Poem #2: Gifts From Old Friends
In Baldur's Gate, where shadows lie,
The Leaves sought clues, beneath the sky.
Elminster's whereabouts, their aim,
Whispered by Neverember's name.
Malcer's father, Elminster knew,
To find Gambino, help accrue.
Through Waterdeep, their journey led,
Xanathar's whispers, secrets bred.
Beholder grand, with eye so keen,
Lena and Janus, minds unseen.
Enslaved by Janus, Gambino's sin,
Betrayed the Leaves, darkness did win.
Xanathar's lair, a hidden hold,
Maps revealed, secrets untold.
Greypeak Mountains, shadows climb,
Seeking truth, beyond space and time.
Intoxicated dwarves, lost in haze,
Delirium's grip, in mountain maze.
The Leaves fought brave, the village freed,
From dragon's grasp, a cruelest greed.
Xanathar's dungeon, deep and dire,
Dreamy horrors, fueled by fire.
Weakened beholder, life waning fast,
Secrets spilled, a tragic past.
Neverwinter's fate, a twisted plan,
Forget their lord, Xanathar's command.
Spell awry, a celestial tear,
City banished, lost and clear.
Lena fell ill, the magic's toll,
Xanathar cared, with heart and soul.
But Janus came, with Gambino's might,
Took Lena captive, lost to sight.
Mordenkainen's aid, in distant land,
Everska's hope, at desert's strand.
Xanathar died, his tale complete,
The Leaves descended, fate to meet.
Dragon returned, rage in its breath,
Revenge demanded, facing death.
Then came a roar, a giant form,
Infernal machine, amidst the storm.
Kenku warriors, shackles hurled,
A gift from Bambara, the underworld.
Arahna caught the dragon's might,
Banishment cast, a blinding light.
Neverwinter's echo, faint and far,
Dragon vanished, under a foreign star.
Though magic's touch, a mystery remains,
The Leaves march on, through sun and rains.
So sing this tale, of heroes bold,
In quest for truth, in stories told.
For Neverwinter's fate, hangs in the air,
And Xanathar's secrets, secrets to share.
