Ch. 1
Cold Open
A flicker of memory brought Greg back to a time long past, to the echoing halls of a wizard college where his brother, Frul, pursued his studies. Greg found Frul hunched over ancient tomes in his cramped dorm room, surrounded by arcane diagrams. Frul expressed a desire to continue his diligent work, but Greg, ever the instigator of adventure, soon cajoled Frul into leaving the dusty confines for a taste of the outside world, specifically a vibrant, anachronistic diner pulsating with the energy of a bygone era. The diner’s neon glow and synthwave hum provided a stark contrast to their usual surroundings. Their meal was abruptly interrupted when a menacing gang of Harengon, their rabbit-like features contorted in anger, stormed into the establishment. It quickly became apparent that their ire was directed squarely at Greg, who had, in an earlier escapade, relieved them of a stash of Makka, a potent street drug. The confrontation escalated rapidly from harsh words to a violent brawl. Chairs flew, tables splintered, and the magic of the college-trained Frul combined with Greg's street-hardened combat skills to meet the Harengon's aggressive assault. In the chaotic fray, the Harengon leader, a particularly fierce individual known only as Danger, met his end, felled by the combined efforts of the brothers. As the dust settled and the remaining gang members scattered into the night, a curious aftermath unfolded. Frul, surprisingly unperturbed by the recent violence, found himself entangled in a passionate embrace with Danger’s former girlfriend, Jenny, amidst the wreckage of the diner. Meanwhile, Greg, ever the pragmatist with a keen eye for spoils, stooped to claim Danger's distinctive boots, recognizing their value. With the immediate threat quelled and an unexpected romance kindled, Greg and Frul abandoned any notion of returning to quiet study. Instead, they plunged headfirst into the city's nightlife, celebrating their triumph and newfound freedom with an all-night party that echoed with the thrill of their audacious victory.
Ch. 2
Part 1
Returning from the abrupt memory of Greg, the chilling reality of the Lesnina Forest reasserted itself. The pervasive gloom remained, yet the air hummed with a renewed, predatory tension. The two unseen hunters, relentless in their pursuit, struck again from the shadows, their forms barely perceptible blurs. This time, however, the party had grown accustomed to the oppressive darkness, their senses sharpened by previous encounters. They moved with a newfound cohesion, anticipating the stealthy lunges and cunning maneuvers of their foes. With a coordinated effort that spoke of tactical adaptation, the party focused their combined might, pushing back against the encroaching threats. The skirmish was fierce, a flurry of precise strikes and defensive parries in the near-total dark. In a decisive moment, the less dominant of the two, the beta predator, succumbed to their focused assault, its menacing presence silenced permanently. Just as the immediate danger seemed to recede, a familiar figure materialized from the deeper woods: Moash, a former ally whose sudden appearance brought a glimmer of hope amidst the chaos. Moash wasted no time, unleashing an arcane force that assailed the alpha predator's mind, momentarily shattering its predatory focus. Disoriented and vulnerable, the alpha quickly fell under the party's relentless attack, its reign of terror in this stretch of forest brought to an end. As the alpha predator’s form stilled, a complex, high-tech gauntlet was revealed on one of its limbs. With the creature's final spasm, an array of intricate, iridescent marbles spilled from the device. Kilijan, ever quick-handed, deftly snatched several from the air. However, others clattered to the leaf-strewn ground, detonating in a series of searing fireballs that scorched the earth and illuminated the forest in stark, momentary flashes. Before the echoes of the explosions faded, an ancient and colossal form emerged from the deepening gloom. Lunaryn, the revered guardian elk of the Lesnina Forest, stood before them. Its immense antlers scraped against low-hanging branches, and its eyes, glowing with an intense, crimson light, fixed upon the party. Lost in the menacing glow of those fiery eyes, the adventurers found themselves facing a new, potent, and seemingly hostile force.
