Synopsis
As the party nears the final confrontation, Bug arrives to take Selena to safety—leaving behind only hope and a promise. Crossing into Lorelei’s domain, the party is offered the end of their stories. Peace. Completion. Closure. But none accept. In the fight that follows, truths are laid bare, wounds reopened, and the cost of mercy weighed against justice. When all is said and done, they leave the island—not with victory, but with choice.
Ch. 1
Part 1
The mist splits.
Bug, Selena’s last functioning construct, arrives—its frame scorched but stable. With mechanical gentleness, it helps lift Selena to her feet.
She turns to the party.
“I’ll be waiting. Send word when you’re ready to take the Tower down.”
She smiles—faint but firm. And then, she’s gone. Bug carries her into the clouds, toward whatever rest she’s earned.
The party moves forward.
A stone bridge stretches across an abyss of silence. Below, nothingness stirs. As they walk, something ancient calls to them—not a voice, but possibility.
Each member stops. Looks.
They are shown an ending. A perfect one.
Kilijan, at peace in Thur, resting beside Zendekai, the war behind them.
Weneon, grinning, sneaking through golden halls with Safwalyn, laughter in their ears.
Mycha, curled beside Marla, a quiet life of sunlit mornings and ink-stained dreams.
Greg, in a village reborn—his kin restored, his faith proven true.
Manasa sees... nothing. No vision. No ending offered. Only the bridge ahead.
They step forward.
Not one takes the deal.
Ch. 2
Part 2
At the bridge’s end waits Lorelei. She stands barefoot atop a spiral of coral thorns, skin like sea-glass, voice like memory.
They speak. Not as enemies, but as opposing truths.
Lorelei explains:
“I did not curse Moonweft. I saved it. I ended their suffering. I took what the world would not—its unwanted children. I gave them silence instead of screams.”
The party disagrees.
Life, they argue, is pain—but also choice. The children deserved a chance to fight, not a forced surrender.
Lorelei listens. And then she lifts her hand.
Behind her, dozens of children—ghostly, glowing—appear.
“Please,” they whisper, “don’t take her from us.”
The party hesitates only a moment. Then, they draw their weapons.
Ch. 3
Part 3
The battle begins.
The children do not fight, but watch. Their eyes plead. Their presence weighs.
Lorelei summons waves of glass-mist, shattering illusions and conjuring sorrow made real. She strikes hard, and harder still when words fail.
During the fight, Weneon sees him again.
The child from Graviher.
“Don’t choose for me again,” he says.
It stops Weneon in his tracks.
But the others press on.
Lorelei weakens. She falls to one knee. And from the ground, something massive erupts—
A Crystal Elemental, pulsing with her final rage.
It protects her. Shields her.
But it, too, falls.
Silence returns.
Lorelei, broken but breathing, lies before them.
They have a choice.
Greg lifts his weapon.
Kilijan watches, unreadable.
Weneon lowers his eyes.
They do not kill her.
Instead, they turn away.
With the last of their strength, they teleport to Revillon—leaving Moonweft, Lorelei, and her ghosts behind.
Let the village decide what to do with the curse.
They have made their choice.
