Cunning Escapes

Kilijan and Mycha sat down in the One-Legged Donkey tavern to have a drink after a long day of traveling. A female human singer by the name of Astoria started singing after a long rant about the Border Kingdoms. Weneon approached their table and sat down, immediately starting speaking to them. As Astoria’s song went on, it charmed the entire tavern, while one of her halfling culprits pickpocketed the patrons of the tavern. Kilijan got aware of the attempt, but failed to chase after the halfling, who fled outside. Weneon approached Astoria and pickpocketed other guests as well. Astoria was impressed by his skills and told him to find her if him and his friends ever come to Oeble. As she said goodbye, Weneon realized she lifted all his gold from him. Later that evening, a male tabaxi named Rychain offered them a quest to deliver a package from the Hungry Haunting tavern in the Underways to the city of Great Oak. They accepted, and Kilijan managed to offend him by referring to him as a smuggler.

A day later, John and Ketojan were sitting for the evening in the Broker’s Inn smoking Ketojan’s herbs. The other aristocratic guests were a bit bothered by their presence, especially by a patron named Zoltan. John apologized for intruding with their manners, but Zoltan didn’t believe him to be the son of a famous admiral from Derlusk. The establishment was then entered by Kilijan, Weneon and Mycha. They were seated with John and Ketojan. After they got to know each other, they realized that they got the same quest from Rychain. They decided to band together, but not before Weneon decided to steal Zoltan’s golden dagger from his belt. As Weneon snuck underneath Zoltan’s table, Kilijan tried to distract Zoltan. However, his attempt made the situation more difficult for Weneon. As Zoltan realized the halfling underneath the table, John flipped the table and aimed with his musket at Zoltan. Weneon took a hold of the dagger and the party ran out of the tavern. Zoltan’s bodyguards chased after them, but Ketojan successfully entangled them into vines in front of the tavern. One bodyguard managed to free himself and chased after them on a horse. John decided to tackle the horse. The bodyguard fell to the ground and grabbed a pistol from the saddle pouch, grazing John with a shot. John, in return, headshot the bodyguard with his musket, killing him on the spot. They escaped to a ruined tower and made camp there until morning.

After being woken up by a lord and his truffle pig, the party continued to Oeble. On their way, they came across a wanted poster of themselves with a reward of 350 gp. They took it down, and Weneon disguised himself to not resemble his image in the poster. They arrive in Oeble and attend a public hanging of Marla on the Gallow Square, a human mechanic. As Marla is stalling with stories about her life, the priest Severin Dauther lets her plea for her life. The party notices the knight Silis in the crowd, who is trying to create a distraction to save Marla. The party helps him and creates a diversion. Mycha saves Marla from falling from the stage and runs with her towards a back alley. The rest of the party deals with the guards and escape through a manhole into the sewers. Mycha and Marla enter the sewers as well, and after an hour of stumbling through the sewer tunnels, the party finally reunites. They follow Silis’ instructions and arrive in the Underways, near The Penthouse, their hideout. When they enter, they are met by Silis and Andre, a half-giant blacksmith, who takes care of Marla and invites them to spend the night in their safe house.
