Synopsis
In the shadowed depths of the Feywild and the eerie expanse of the Shadowfell, a fractured party battles legendary foes, faces impossible choices, and confronts the weight of sacrifice as they grapple with loss, buried truths, and the fate of the Broken Flame.
Ch. 1
Part 1: Summoned Shadows
Kilijan appeared in the Shadowfell, the oppressive gloom pressing down on him like a physical weight. The faint flicker of the Firelink Shrine’s ember called him forward, where the party waited in uneasy silence. Weneon stepped forward, the obsidian dagger glowing faintly in his grip, and explained the dire situation. Their trials were incomplete, and the Heart of the Broken Flame was still beyond their reach.
Kilijan nodded grimly, his hands tightening around his tools. Together, they formed a new plan to face the remaining trials.
The fog walls loomed ahead, glowing faintly with ominous light. The party divided once more:
Weneon and Kilijan faced the deadly duo, Ornstein and Smough, in the golden hall.
Mycha entered the crumbling battlements to confront the towering Taurus Demon.
Greg found himself in the narrow alleyways with the Capra Demon.
Each trial tested their resolve. Weneon and Kilijan combined speed and ingenuity to navigate Ornstein’s lightning strikes and Smough’s devastating hammer. Mycha faced relentless onslaughts but used his strength and tactics to outlast the Taurus Demon. Greg’s agility and precision helped him prevail in the tight quarters against the Capra Demon.
As the last blow was struck, the fog walls dissolved, leaving the party victorious but weary.

Part 2: The Lord of Ashes
The air shifted around them, and the party was drawn into a vast, desolate chamber. At its center lay the mummified form of the Lord of Ashes and Cinder, his once-majestic figure marred by burns that gleamed like molten magma. Weneon recognized the strange patterns on his charred flesh, a testament to his fiery end.
The Lord stirred, his hollow eyes burning faintly as he rose to face them. Though his movements were slow and his strikes feeble, he refused their attempts at diplomacy. “The flame demands sacrifice,” he rasped, his voice like the crackling of dying embers.
The party hesitated, their weapons raised but unmoving. Then, with sudden, deadly precision, the Lord whispered Power Word Kill. Greg gasped as his body collapsed, lifeless, before their eyes.
A surge of fury overcame the group. Reluctance gave way to vengeance as they fought the weakened Lord, finally striking him down. His last words were a pained whisper: “I did this… for them.” They realize it was Xolotacl.
As the ashes settled, Weneon discovered the Heart of the Broken Flame, an ornate lighter still warm to the touch. Kilijan, kneeling beside Greg’s body, pressed a diamond against his chest, desperate to bring him back. Whispering the words of the Revivify spell he had heard before, he faltered, unsure if it would work.
Suddenly, a voice echoed in his mind: Malcer’s, a guiding presence urging him onward. Light enveloped the diamond as Kilijan’s hands moved instinctively, the magic flowing through him. Greg’s body shuddered, his chest rising with a sharp breath. Kilijan had learned Revivify, and with it, he had brought Greg back to life.

Part 3: The Broken Shrine
Returning to the Shrine of the Broken Flame, the party faced a choice: rekindle the sacred fire or keep the Heart for its power. Weneon, gripping the lighter, hesitated. “Not now,” he murmured, pocketing the artifact as the group turned to leave.
Suddenly, Greg bolted. “Greg!” Mycha shouted, giving chase, but Greg vanished into the crumbling ruins. The temple groaned and shuddered as they exited, collapsing into rubble behind them. The shrine—and its secrets—were lost forever.
Later, as they trekked through the shadowed forest, they found Greg hanging upside-down in a ranger’s trap. Disoriented but unharmed, he muttered something about heading to Brqua. They are aware who set the trap, but later cannot recall it.

Part 4: Loss and Closure
Brqua was silent when they arrived, the village eerily still. The faint smell of decay hung in the air. They found Greg’s home in ruins, his wife and child among the dead. The sight of their lifeless forms broke Greg’s stoic façade. He buried them beneath the trees, whispering prayers for their peace.
The party joined him at the gravesite, their silence filled with unspoken grief. Later, in Greg’s house, they shared a quiet meal, the warmth of the soup contrasting with the cold emptiness around them.
As they rested, Kilijan’s thoughts drifted to the Materia Swamp, where he had been before being summoned. The memory of Myscha, torch in hand, setting fire to her parents’ home burned vividly in his mind. He glanced at Mycha, his thoughts heavy with doubt. Should he tell him? Could he?
For now, Kilijan kept the truth to himself, the weight of it pressing down as they prepared for what lay ahead.
